The Azalea Neighborhood Association, Inc., formerly The Azalea Homes Community Association, Inc. is celebrating its 73rd anniversary. Originally the neighborhood was the golf course of the Jungle Hotel, now Admiral Farragut Academy, built by Walter P. Fuller during a land boom in the 1920’s. The Jungle Hotel went through several hands and was bought eventually by Admiral Farragut Academy. In the early 1950’s, the Azaleaville area was acquired from Admiral Farragut Academy by Azalea Homes Development, Inc. The developer first sold lots and built homes east of 16th Ave. North on Robinson Road, south of Park Street, and between Fifth and Ninth Avenues. Development north of Ninth Avenue began in 1952.
About Us
The Azalea Neighborhood Association, Inc. is dedicated to enhancing our community, promoting civic improvements, and creating opportunities for neighbors to connect. From monthly meetings to annual events, we work together to keep our neighborhood a great place to live.
We also support charitable efforts in our community. Each year, Azalea neighbors participate in the west St. Pete Food Drive and organize our own neighborhood Toy Drive, adding to a larger effort that brings holiday cheer to local families.
Monthly Meetings
We meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 PM at the Azalea Recreation Center (1600 72nd St. N). All meetings are free and open to the public. Meetings feature guest speakers from city government, community services, local organizations, and businesses, who provide updates and resources on topics that matter most to our neighborhood.
